- Measles is an infectious disease that is highly contagious with symptoms of high fever, cough, red eyes, and rashes on the skin.
- Possible complications caused by measles are serious lung infection, such as pneumonia. Although severe cases are rare, measles can cause swelling of the brain and even death.
- Mumps is a contagious disease that can spread when infected people cough, sneeze, or talk. Sharing items with infected people (i.e. cups, water bottles) can also lead to the spread of virus.
- Mumps symptoms are fever, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, loss of appetite and swelling on one or both of parotid glands (parotitis)
- Mumps complication can occasionally lead to swelling of the brain, testicles, ovaries or breast. It can also cause temporary or permanent deafness.
- Rubella, also called German measles, is a disease that spreads through the air when an infected individual coughs or sneezes.
- Many people who get rubella never have symptoms or have only mild symptoms. For people who have symptoms, a red rash is typically the first sign. Other symptoms can include fever, headache, red eyes,general discomfort, swollen and enlarged lymph nodes, cough, and runny nose.
- Rubella infection in a pregnant woman is dangerous. If a pregnant woman gets rubella, her baby could have birth defects such as deafness, cataracts, heart defects, mental disabilities, and organ damage.
